WHY SMITH LAKE?
Buy a Lake Home. Enjoy It. Let It Work for You.
Smith Lake is one of the most desirable freshwater lakes in the Southeast. It’s also one of the strongest short-term rental markets in Alabama.
We specialize in selling homes that don’t just look good on the water — they make sense long-term. And if you choose, we can manage your property as a vacation rental after closing.
No handoffs. No guessing. One team from purchase to performance.
BUY + RENT
Sell or purchase your perfect family vacation home
Not every lake house is the same—and that’s where we come in. We help you identify properties with strong rental potential by looking at:
- Location and water access
- Floor plan and guest capacity
- Rental guidelines and permitting requirements
- Revenue potential and seasonal demand
- Ongoing ownership costs
When the numbers line up, we guide you through turning your purchase into a professionally managed, income-producing lake rental.
About Smith Lake Sales and Rentals

In 2013 the company expanded to include real estate services, providing tailored support for buyers seeking lake homes and land.

About Benjamin
Hi, I’m Benjamin, and yes, I actually live, work, and spend way too much time on Smith Lake.
I own and operate Smith Lake Rentals and Sales, manage almost 60 lake homes, and spend my days helping people maintain and enjoy properties on the water without losing their sanity in the process.
Because I manage short term rentals and oversee maintenance, construction, docks, and renovations, I don’t just know what a property looks like on closing day. I know how it performs long term, what breaks, what costs money, and what actually adds value versus what just looks good in listing photos.
My approach to real estate is simple, be honest, be practical, and don’t waste anyone’s time. If a deal is great, I’ll tell you. If it’s a bad idea, I’ll tell you that too, even if it means talking you out of a sale. I believe good advice beats fast commissions every time.
When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me on the lake, fixing something around my farm that I’ve probably put off a time or two before, or helping my neighbors with some project that gives me an excuse to have a cold beverage and keep up with what’s going on in their lives.
If you’re looking for a real estate agent who understands Smith Lake beyond the MLS and won’t sugarcoat the details, I’d love to help.
